About the Artwork

“A silent vigil beneath a sky of fire and shadow.”

This striking 30×36 inch acrylic painting is a powerful contribution to the Western American canon. It centers on the quiet dignity of a solitary equine figure, rendered in soft, textured tones. The horse is positioned in profile, looking away from the viewer, in a posture of profound contemplation or perhaps weary resilience.

Dominating the upper composition is a turbulent, apocalyptic sky. An explosive, intensely colored cloud formation of fiery oranges and bright yellows battles against a heavy, oppressive charcoal-black storm front. This dramatic celestial event feels both destructive and magnificent. This tension is physically grounded as subtle, dark drip marks cascade down the canvas, bridging the sky, the air, and the animal, suggesting an inescapable fusion of the equine spirit with the raw, chaotic energy of the natural world.
